January is Human Trafficking Prevention Month: Connecting the Dots. Strengthening Communities. Preventing Trafficking.
Everyone has the right to live and work safely. No one has the right to force someone to work or have sex for money, food, shelter, or safety- not family, friends, or partners. No one.
This month, we raise awareness about human trafficking and work to end it. The 2025 theme highlights the connections between trafficking and other forms of abuse—like online harassment and domestic violence. By understanding these links, we can disrupt and prevent exploitation. Better job opportunities, healthy relationships, and safe use of technology all play crucial roles in preventing trafficking.
MLSA recently launched the Montana Human Trafficking Rights Project in an effort to build capacity in Montana to serve victims of human trafficking and provide trauma-informed civil legal aid services to victims. If you need help, please apply by calling 1-800-666-6899 or apply online at MontanaLawHelp.org.
