National Consumer Protection Week

Creditors must treat you fairly and honestly. The Montana Consumer Protection Act (MCPA) ensures consumers are protected from dishonest and unfair practices.

Examples of unfair or deceptive actions include:

  • Telling you not to make payments and then charging late fees for missed payments.
  • Not following the terms of your loan agreement.

If you think a creditor violated the MCPA, do not wait to take your next steps. There are strict deadlines to file a claim under the MCPA. Learn more about your rights and options by visiting MontanaDebtOptions.org.

Montana Legal Services Association (MLSA) provides legal tips to help Montanans better understand their rights and find free resources. Need more help? Call our HelpLine at 1 (800) 666-6899 or apply online at MontanaLawHelp.org.
